Jean Madeyski was born in Morocco in 1967, and grew up in a village where, from the age of 11, photography kept him from being bored. He developed his own images in the darkroom, but, after turning 18, grew tired of photography. He returned to it in his early thirties. Madeyski compares himself to an analyst in search of the intimate, the hidden. Madeyski has explored a range of photographic disciplines. With his emotions as fuel, he seeks what is intense and essential, in himself as well as his subjects. Now in his forties, he feels that photography has profoundly changed who he is.
