Freelance documentary photographer and multimedia author, Sélim Harbi was born in Tunis in 1982, and grew up in the city. He studied photography and audiovisual media at Beuth Hochschule für Technnik in Berlin. Harbi attempts really to ‘see’: to reflect his surroundings, travelling and collecting stories along the way—stories that may explore surprising issues behind the seemingly ordinary. His work is oriented towards communities and contemporary sociopolitical issues. In 2013 he co-founded the pan-African Afreekyama Collective, a cross-media platform dedicated to photojournalism and creative multimedia storytelling.
